Pro Regio Central Hungary Regional Development Company Ltd.

In 1999 the Hungarian Parliament made a decision on the establishment of a EU conform regional system. The newly established regions have primary development and planning functions, since they will be the receptors of future development resources. The mission of the Pro Regio Agency is to play a determinant role in an integrated and balanced development of the Central Hungarian Region (including Budapest and Pest County) pursuing the principles of cooperation, partnership and efficiency.

The Agency was founded in June 2000, as a coordinating organisation, working under the supervision of Central Hungary Regional Development Council.

Aims of the Pro Regio Agency:

• monitoring and analysis of regional processes
• setting up an EU conform programming and planning system
• the effective fulfillment of the professional needs of its partners/clients
• value added information flow, assisting partnership
• supporting the Central Hungary Regional Development Council and its Committees

Planning and organising:

as a background organization, it supports the Regional Development Council and its Committees, developing, coordinating and managing regional projects; coordinates regional development tasks concerning human and economic resources, environmental conditions and infrastructure development. The Agency reviews local and regional concepts / programs, and itself prepares programs and projects if needed, including the assistance of external experts. It also organises trainings, conferences and exhibitions.

Cooperation and networking:

the Agency cooperates with the regional actors (small-regions, local governments, chambers, civil organizations, companies and government bodies), with foreign organisations and participates in international projects.

Coordination and conflict management:

it fulfills coordinating tasks among the regional actors, promotes their cooperation in revealing common interests and tasks and harmonises their development aims and activities.

Collection and supply of information:

the Agency monitors the Region's economic and social development. Its regular newsletter provides information on main events. Regional data, information on funding resources and studies on CD are available for our customers. Besides, one can also visit our website.
